Training Away a Bad Diet

There is a common misconception that because you work out you can cheat with a bad diet. The truth is, you can’t train away a bad diet. Rather than set up a psychological incentive system based on the idea that “I worked out, so I deserve to eat unhealthy treats,” shift your paradigm to “I stick with my fitness routine to stimulate my metabolism, develop the body of my dreams and live a long, healthy life.”

Your body craves nutrients and vitamins. It wants real food. If it comes in a box, it is not real food. When you shop, stick to the perimeters of the grocery store, that is where you will find fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and sources of protein. You get to spend a limited number of calories every day; spend them wisely. You wouldn’t spend your entire monthly budget on a diamond bracelet from Tiffany’s and leave nothing for food and rent so don’t spend your daily allotment of calories on junk food. Eighty percent of your dream body is derived from good nutrition.

There is nothing wrong with rewarding yourself for a job well-done. When you stick with your training program, reward yourself with a massage, trip to the spa, or that darling pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing!
