Abs are made in the kitchen

Contrary to popular belief, your abs aren’t made in the gym, they are made in the kitchen. What do I mean by that? We think we can eat what we want and because we are exercising an hour a day the pounds will magically fall off. That is simply not true! What we eat matters.

Unfortunately, when we eat too many calories and the wrong kind of calories, we overwork the pancreas, often resulting in a deadly combination of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar. Not only do we miss out on great abs, but we put our health in danger.

The recipe for a healthy body that looks and feels great is the result of three key ingredients.

Eating the right portions of the right foods is 75% of success. You want to eat foods that are low in calories and high in nutrients to get the biggest bang for your buck. Those include lean proteins, cruciferous vegetables, and fruit. Skip the instant oatmeal, processed and packaged foods, flour, sugar and potatoes.

Incorporating weightlifting into your regular routine is the second most important component. This builds muscle and elevates your metabolism enabling it to continue to burn fuel faster and more efficiently throughout the day.

Finally, including cardio in your exercise routine will work your most important muscle, your heart.

Until we pay sufficient attention to our diet, the perfect abs will continue to elude us.
