COVID-19 has reinforced just how much we crave social interaction. One of things my eight-year-old daughter has missed the most these past three months is group activities with her friends. In addition to unstructured time with friends, she regularly participates in dance and karate classes. Although she competes against herself in each of these activities, she does so in a group environment.
Like my daughter, many of my clients do better in group classes. Women especially crave the community that classes provide and feed off each other’s energy. Several clients have shared their lack of enthusiasm for working out alone at home. They miss the accountability and comradery that group classes provide. Not surprising, left on their own nearly 75% of people drop their exercise routine within the first few months. It is just too hard to stay the course alone.
Isolation truly is the motivation killer!
As I prepare to reopen Fusion Fitness, I am designing safe ways for my exercise community to come together. I will be offering outdoor classes, one-on-one personal training sessions in the gym and online video workouts.
